Algesal is a local analgesic preparation that is applied topically for symptomatic relief of rheumatic pain and several other minor muscular pains. The preparation has a direct anti-inflammatory and pain relieving effect in conditions such as backache, sciatica, fibrositis, stiffness, muscular strain and so on.
Do not use on broken skin or apply on children below six years or with a history of convulsions. Always read the leaflet inside for safe and correct usage of the preparation. The cream is not recommended for those allergic to any particular ingredient or to aspirin. Consult your doctor prior to usage if you are asthmatic or at an advanced age as the cream might cause confusion in the elderly. Also consult your doctor if you are already taking warfarin, methotrexate or any over-the-counter preparation. Ladies who are pregnant or are nursing or plan to become pregnant should also consult their doctors before using the cream.
Never apply too much to a particular area at a time. Always apply a small amount and massage in gentle; circular motions till absorbed completely. Do carry out a patch test first on a small area of your skin. Apply the cream thrice daily and always wash hands thoroughly after use.
Diethylamine Saclicylate 10% w/w is the active ingredient. Other ingredients include Glycerol Monostearate, Ethylene Glycol Stearate, Triethanolamine, Stearic Acid, Light Liquid Paraffin, Petrolatum, Lavandin Composition, Microcrystalline Wax and Purified Water.
