Colofac IBS Tablets are recommended for the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). The tablet is commonly used for providing relief from the common symptoms of IBS such as flatulence, chronic irritable colon, mucous colitis, spastic constipation, spastic colitis etc.
You should not take Colofac tablets in case you are allergic to any of its major or minor ingredients. Since lactose is one of the excipeints in the formulation, those suffering from galactose intolerance; glucose-galactose malabsorption or Lapp lactase deficiency should not take this medication. Similarly, those suffering from fructose intolerance or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency cannot take this medication. Also, contact your doctor before use if you are pregnant, plan to become so or are breastfeeding.
Each tablet is to be swallowed whole along with a glass of water at least twenty minutes before meals. Never chew or dissolve the tablets before ingestion. The tablets are intended for the use of adults and the elderly since sufficient data regarding safety and efficacy is not available for children below eighteen years. The standard dosage is one tablet three times a day to be reduced gradually over several weeks; depending on the alleviation of discomfort. Since IBS is a chronic condition, it is best to consult your doctor on how to manage your dosage.
Each Colofac IBS tablet is a sugar coated, round white tablet containing Mebeverine hydrochloride 135mg as the prime ingredient. Excipients include starch, lactose, talc, magnesium stearate, povidone, gelatin, sucrose, carnuba wax and acacia.
