Care Epsom Salts are used to relieve constipation. It can also be applied externally for effective relief from boils, bruises and sprains and to relax tired muscles.
Not suitable for internal consumption by children aged below twelve years. Once opened, the pack should be consumed within one month. Do not use in case you are allergic to the active ingredients or if you suffer from intestinal blockage. Consult your doctor before use in case you are taking any vitamins, iron supplements, digoxin or tetracyclines. You should also seek medical advice before use if you are pregnant, lactating, have been ill for a prolonged period or are very aged. Do not use continuously for a long time as this may lead to increase of magnesium in your body or cause alkalosis.
As a treatment for constipation, epsom salts are to be taken orally. The elderly, adults and children over the age of twelve years should take one to three 5ml spoonfuls quantity dissolved in about 250ml of water or as required. You may flavour the prepared drink with fruit juice to enhance taste. Adults, the elderly and children should dissolve one tablespoon of the formulation in some warm water in case of external application for boils and bruises. The prepared solution should then be applied to the affected area using lint or cotton wool.
