Fybogel is used in conditions requiring the intake of high fibre in the diet. It provides relief from constipation and helps maintain normal gut motility.
The formulation is quite safe and adverse reactions are rare. Even then, always read all product packaging and labels thoroughly before use. Do not use in case you are allergic to any of the excipients. The preparation is contraindicated in patients with intestinal obstruction, natural or drug-induced reduction of gut motility, faecal impaction or senile megacolon.
The medication should be taken orally as a suspension in water and should be prepared by stirring the granules into a glass of water and drinking the same immediately. For best results, take Fybogel after your meals. Adults, the elderly and children should take one sachet each in the morning and evening. Children between the age of six and twelve years should take one or half level 5ml spoonful in the morning and evening. Children below five years can be given half level 5ml spoonful only on medical advice. Do not take the preparation immediately before bedtime at night. Consult a physician in case of no bowel movement even after three days
The formulation is presented as orange flavoured granules of Ispaghula husk 3.5g. Excipients include Potassium bicarbonate, Citric acid, Sodium bicarbonate, Riboflavine sodium phosphate, Aspartame, Beta-carotene 10% CWS/S(E160a), Polysorbate 80, Silica colloidal anhydrous, Saccharin Sodium and Orange flavour.
