Gaviscon Liquid Peppermint provides quick, long-lasting and comforting respite from acid reflux, a process that is a result of indigestion that forces the stomach acid and contents into the oesophagus producing pain and intense discomfort. The medicine acts to form a shielding layer on the stomach contents preventing the acid and the stomach contents from escaping into the food pipe where it produces a burning sensation. Do not take Gaviscon Liquid Peppermint if you are required to limit your calcium and sodium intake in your diet. Do not consume if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Discontinue use if you experience skin rashes or breathing problems. Do not take two doses if you forget to take one. It is important to keep your doctor informed of the medications that you are currently having or have taken recently. Keep out of children?s reach and sight. Store in original package below 25?C but do not refrigerate or freeze.
Adults are required to take 10-20 ml at bedtime after having food. The dose is halved for children who are between 6 and 12 years of age. It should be given to children in the 2-6 year age group only if advised by a doctor. Should not be administered to babies.
Composition per 5 ml is sodium alginate 250 mg, sodium bicarbonate a 133.5 mg and calcium carbonate 80 mg. Also contains carbomer, sodium saccharin, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), sodium hydroxide, propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), and purified water. The flavouring agent is peppermint oil.
